How to get Unstuck

Stuck and Spinning Your Wheels? The Way Out Is Messier Than You Think.

You know that feeling. You are trying to make progress, but it feels like you are just spinning your wheels.

It is frustrating. And here is the truth I keep coming back to: messiness creates momentum.

Embracing the chaos and imperfection can be the very thing that helps you break free.

Perfection does not exist. The longer you wait for it, the longer you stay stuck.

In this episode of the Happy Healthy Hustle Podcast, I walk you through a five-step plan to get unstuck, stop overthinking, and start building real momentum.

Acknowledge the mess. Break it down. Find your why.

Then take imperfect action, because progress comes from moving, not from perfecting.

0:00 The Stuck Feeling

[00:00:01] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Welcome back to the Happy Healthy Hustle. Today’s episode is all about one of the biggest things that holds us back, feeling stuck. You know that feeling, when you are trying to make progress but it feels like you are spinning your wheels? Here is the truth, messiness creates momentum. Embracing the chaos and imperfection can be the very thing that helps you break free and move forward. By the end, you will have a clear five-step plan to get unstuck.

1:30 Step One: Acknowledge the Mess

[00:01:30] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: The first step is simple but often the hardest, acknowledging the mess. We all try to keep everything neat, tidy, and perfect, but life is messy, and the more we fight it, the more stuck we feel. So instead of avoiding it, say it out loud, this is super messy, and that is okay. Once you accept that messiness is part of the process, you free yourself from the pressure of perfection and can start making moves without waiting for everything to be just right.

2:12 Step Two: Break It Down

[00:02:12] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: The next step is to break it down. One of the biggest reasons we feel stuck is that the goal feels overwhelming and we do not know where to start. Break your big goal into small, manageable pieces, what I call Petite Practices. If you are launching a business or changing a habit, maybe the first step is five minutes of research or writing down your thoughts. Breaking things into micro steps makes progress manageable, and no matter how small, you are gaining momentum.

3:07 Step Three: Find Your Why

[00:03:07] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Step three is finding your why. When you are stuck, it is easy to forget why you started in the first place. So pause and ask, why does this matter to me? Reconnecting with your deeper purpose gives you energy and reignites the spark that got you excited. When you align with your why, obstacles do not feel impossible, especially when things get tough.

3:50 Step Four: Take Imperfect Action

[00:03:50] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: This is where the magic happens, taking imperfect action. So many of us wait for the perfect time, the perfect plan, the perfect conditions. But perfection does not exist, and the longer you wait, the longer you stay stuck. Just take the first step, even if it is messy. Imperfect action creates momentum. When I wrote my book, the moment I stopped obsessing about every detail, things started flowing.

5:12 Step Five: Reflect and Refine

[00:05:12] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Finally, reflect and refine. Once you are taking action, check in with yourself and look back at what is working and what is not. Reflection helps you refine your strategy and stay on track. It is not just about constantly moving, it is about pausing, taking a breath, and making adjustments. Self-awareness is what helps you achieve long-term success.

5:32 The Five Steps Together

[00:05:32] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: So there are the five steps to get unstuck. Step one, acknowledge the mess. Step two, break it down. Step three, find your why. Step four, take imperfect action. Step five, reflect and refine. I go deeper into each of these exercises in my book, How to Master Your Goals.

7:23 Messiness Creates Momentum

[00:07:23] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Remember, messiness creates momentum. Progress does not come from perfection, it comes from action. So stay messy, stay brave, and keep hustling forward toward your happiest, healthiest self.
