What This Episode Is Really About

When your goals feel like a giant, overwhelming storm or like you’re staring at the other side of a raging river, this episode is your calm within the chaos.

I share three vivid metaphors that unpack how Petite Practices™ offer a sustainable, empowering path forward.

Whether you’re building a business, a wellness habit, or both, these visual stories will help you shift from stuck to steady – one small, intentional step at a time.

Try this 3-Minute Mind Reset

1. The Rain Chain: From Chaos to Flow

Imagine a downpour—rain splashing everywhere. That’s what our to-do lists often feel like. But a rain chain – a decorative string of cups – slows the water and guides it calmly downward.

That’s what Petite Practice™ does. It takes big goals and channels them into small, manageable actions that add up to real momentum.

2. The Stepping Stones: Crossing the River

Your big vision might feel like it’s across a wide, wild river.

No bridge. No easy way.

But when you stop staring at the other side and look down, you notice the stepping stones, each one a choice, a tool, or a moment of courage.

You don’t need the full path. Just the next rock.

3. The Walk Around the Block: Small Wins Over Big Sprints

When you’re building new habits, the temptation is to “go big.”

But momentum doesn’t come from sprints. It comes from rhythm. Walking around the block might not sound impressive, but it’s what builds trust—with yourself and with the process.

Slow is sustainable. Tiny is powerful.

4. Where to Start with Petite Practice™

Instead of waiting for a big chunk of time, I just choose a Petite Practice™ moment, just 5-10 minutes. These micro-moments reset my mind faster than anything else.

Still not sure how to reset your mind?

Choose just one:

  • Your next cup on the rain chain
  • Your next rock in the river
  • Your next block on the walk

That’s it. One quiet move forward. One rhythm restart. Let that be enough today.

5. Final Thoughts and Freebie

The pressure to be perfect, fast, or fully formed is what keeps so many people spinning in place. But the truth? Big transformation is built on small, unglamorous decisions repeated daily.

When you give yourself permission to start small and stay consistent, you start building real trust in your capacity to grow. That’s the power of Petite Practice™. Let your next step be tiny. Let it be today. Take the free Discover your Supower quiz here!

Dr. Christiane Schroeter [00:00:00]: Hello there. If you’ve ever looked at your goals and felt totally overwhelmed—like, “How in the world am I going to get there?”—this episode is for you. I want to share three very visual metaphors that explain what I mean when I talk about petite practices. These are the small, intentional steps that slow the chaos, reduce the pressure, and help you make real progress with your business, your wellness, or both.
Let’s get started. I’m your host, Dr. Christiane. This is the Happy Healthy Hustle.

[00:00:35]
These metaphors have stuck with me, and I think they’ll help you feel less alone and much more focused. So let’s dive right in.

The Rain Chain Analogy — Progress is not a splashy mess. It’s guided, beautiful flow.
Picture a heavy rainstorm. The rain is pouring down fast and hard. Without any guidance, it crashes to the ground, splattering everywhere. That’s what most of our to-do lists feel like, right? Everything coming down all at once.
We often say, “When it rains, it pours.” But now imagine a beautiful decorative rain chain—maybe you’ve seen them. They’re made of little cups or loops linked together, guiding the rain gently to one focused spot. Each cup slows the flow and gives the water a place to land before passing it on to the next.
That’s what petite practices do. They take the full force of your ambitions—“I want to get healthier,” “I want to grow my business,” “I need to show up more”—and they channel that, step by step. Suddenly, it’s not chaos. It’s focused. It’s beautiful. And it actually reaches the ground in a meaningful way.

[00:02:14] The River and the Stepping Stones
You don’t need a bridge. You just need the next rock.
Let’s say your big goal is sitting right across a river. It’s crystal clear in your mind, maybe even a little sparkly over there. But the river in front of you is wild and fast-moving. You’re frozen, stuck on the edge, wondering how to get across.
Then something shifts. Instead of staring at that distant goal, you look down—and notice rocks. They’re scattered, not perfectly aligned, not all stable—but they’re there. Each rock is a person, a practice, a moment of courage. Some are solid. Some are wobbly. But all are part of the path.
You don’t have to leap the whole river. You just need to trust that the next step exists—and keep moving.

[00:03:22] The Walk Around the Block
You’re not running a marathon. You’re building a rhythm.
Starting anything new—wellness, business—can feel overwhelming. It feels like you’re supposed to go big or go home. But real momentum doesn’t come from going fast. It comes from showing up consistently.
Let’s say you want to run a marathon. You don’t lace up and run 26 miles on day one. You walk around the block. Then maybe you do it again tomorrow. Maybe the next day, you stop at the same house and that’s still a win. On day three, maybe you go a little further.
Petite practices are just like that. They’re not glamorous. They don’t make headlines. But they are everything. They train your mind and body to trust that small steps are still steps.

[00:04:46] Recap and Connection
Let’s zoom out and look at the big picture.
The Rain Chain slows the stress and helps break big goals into small, manageable steps.
The Stepping Stones show us that action, not perfection, builds momentum—even when the path is imperfect.
The Walk Around the Block reminds us that repetition and rhythm are how we build capacity and confidence.

[00:07:27] Final Invitation
So here’s my invitation for you today:
Pick your next cup on the rain chain.
Find your next rock in the river.
Take your next lap around the block.
And let that be enough.
Progress is happening—even when it’s quiet.
That’s the power of petite practices.
