5 Steps to Overcome Procrastination

How to Get Unstuck When the Lists Keep Growing

The lists keep growing. People keep asking for more.

And the overload gets heavy enough that you freeze.

Christiane knows that feeling, and she has a way through it. Step away to get fresh eyes. Build a boundary between work and home. And break the bold dream into small petite practices, the same way she turned Instagram Lives into a ranked podcast.

Then she shares the ABC framework that keeps it all moving.

    2. Create a boundary between work and home. Even changing into house shoes signals your body that the day is done.
    3. Big dreams shrink into steps. Christiane went from Instagram Lives to a ranked podcast by repurposing what she already had.
    4. A is for attitude. Tune into what lights you up, because that passion fuels you and attracts others.
    5. B is what you are best at. Do one thing well and let go of perfectionism.

0:00 The Feeling of Being Stuck

[00:00:00] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Do you feel stuck? The lists keep getting longer, people keep asking for more, and the overload sits heavy on your shoulders until you just want to procrastinate. This episode is here to help you get unstuck, using the small lifestyle habits I call petite practices.

1:36 The German Work-Life Boundary

[00:01:36] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: There is not even a German word for work life balance, yet somehow we learned to work hard and still protect our leisure. Growing up in Germany, we left work at the door. We changed out of our work clothes and shoes into something cozy, house shoes or slippers, even a guest slipper box by the door. Changing your outfit signals to your body that you are home now and can let the day go.

4:29 Why Stepping Away Works

[00:04:29] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: When you feel stuck, the most powerful move is often to step away. Stepping away does not mean quitting. You will pick it back up, but with fresh eyes. Picture a car with its tires spinning. If you keep flooring the gas, you dig deeper. A short walk, some fresh air, even ten minutes, and the problem you thought was huge often turns out to be smaller than it looked.

7:35 One Bold Dream, Broken Into Steps

[00:07:35] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: I always wanted to reach a wider audience with my speaking, but conferences got impractical once I had children. So I started small with Instagram Lives. Then I realized the audio was good, so I repurposed it into a podcast. Then came the video and YouTube. Each step was a petite practice. Break a bold dream into manageable tasks, and one year later my podcast is ranked and thriving.

11:42 A: Your Attitude and Aspirations

[00:11:42] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Here is my ABC framework. A is your attitude and aspirations. Tune in and dig into what makes you excited, because that passion fuels you when things get hard, and others feel it and connect with you. Like the oxygen mask on a plane, you help yourself first, then you help others.

13:49 B: What You Are Best At

[00:13:49] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: B is what you are best at. We spread ourselves thin and chase perfectionism, but the goal is to do one thing really well. You do not have to do it all. Let some things happen to a smaller extent, and give your energy to the skill that matters most.

14:21 C: What You Care About

[00:14:21] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: C is what you care about. I care about sharing my message honestly, including what did not work. The more authentic you are, the more people feel inspired to do the same. My early Instagram Lives were messy, with comments visible on screen, but I kept them because I care about the message more than the polish.

16:00 Celebrate the Small Wins

[00:16:00] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: We rarely celebrate our small wins. This morning I laughed at how I recorded those first episodes, then realized how far I have come. Try setting aside one day a month to look back at your calendar and the little experiences you collected, each a petite practice that adds joy. Then keep choosing the bold route toward your dreams.
