How to Build Collaboration

Six Ways to Turn a Connection Into a Community

One year. Thirty-two episodes. A podcast now ranked in the top 1.5% globally.

Christiane did not plan the metrics. She followed her heart and showed up consistently.

In this anniversary episode she pulls back the curtain on how she actually builds relationships, and turns them into a thriving community. Six simple C’s, from the first hello to owning what makes you you.

Connection is where all of it begins.

Key Takeaways

    1. Connect with quality, not quantity. Be fully present and listen first, speak second.
    2. Collaboration starts with what you share. Even the same coffee order can spark it.
    3. Community can be built on joy. A hiking group or book circle counts as much as any business network.
    4. Consistency needs a calendar. Schedule the coffee in the moment, or it never happens.
    5. Speak your dream aloud. Owning it in front of your community is how you start to manifest it.
    6. Your flair is your secret sauce. People connect with you, not a perfect system.

0:00 One Year In: Behind the Podcast

[00:00:00] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: This episode celebrates the one-year anniversary of the Happy Healthy Hustle, which launched on March 23rd, 2023, and it is episode 32. Pulling back the curtain, many of my amazing guests are actually close friends from all over the world. The heart of this show is simple. You can hustle and pursue health and happiness at the same time.

2:00 Tip 1: Connect

[00:02:00] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Tip one is connect. At the end of your life, it will not be the money or the cars that mattered most. It will be the relationships. You do not need hundreds of people, just quality ones. So when you meet someone, be fully present, make them feel like the most important person in the room, and really listen. Listen first, speak second.

4:30 Tip 2: Collaborate

[00:04:30] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Tip two is collaborate. Think of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. When you meet someone, you likely already share a connection or a passion. Even ordering the same coffee can spark a conversation. Ask what you have in common, because connection leads to collaboration, and collaboration builds momentum.

7:00 Tip 3: Community

[00:07:00] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Tip three is community, and it does not have to be a business community. It can be built on joy… a hiking group, a coffee club, a book circle, whatever lights you up. You meet one person, discover their hiking club, and suddenly you have met ten more people who share your passion.

9:00 Tip 4: Consistency

[00:09:00] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Tip four is consistency. My Mondays are set aside for connection, sometimes business, sometimes leisure, sometimes a self-care check-in. Life gets full, so we say let us grab coffee and then never do. The trick is to schedule it right in the moment. I am an action taker… that is one of my superpowers. This podcast started scrappy, but every two weeks, rain or shine, there is an episode.

11:30 Tip 5: Create

[00:11:30] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Tip five is create. When you speak your dream aloud to your community, you start to manifest it. Do not hide it or laugh it off. Own it and share it. It may not look exactly how you imagined, and that is fine. Every failure teaches you what you do not want, and your community is the one saying you have got this, keep going.

13:30 Tip 6: Chic Factor, Be You

[00:13:30] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Tip six may be the most important. Own your unique flair. I have a German accent and I embrace it, because my background and quirks are my secret sauce. People do not connect with a perfect system. They connect with you. That is why I share petite practices rooted in my European experiences. Ask what makes you, you, and tap into it. That is where confidence comes from.

16:06 Recap: The Six C's

[00:16:06] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Here is the recap of your six steps… Connect, Collaborate, Build Community, Be Consistent, Create Your Vision, and Own Your Chic Factor. A year ago I did not know I would have a global podcast ranked in the top 1.5%. I did not plan the metrics. I followed my heart and trusted that showing up consistently would lead somewhere meaningful. And it has.
