2. Where could I add one five-minute reset to my day?
3. Who could I ask what brings you joy at dinner tonight?

0:00 Defining the Happy Healthy Hustle
[00:00:00] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Welcome to the very first Happy Healthy Hustle. Today is all about defining what happy, healthy hustling means. We want to succeed personally and professionally, but we forget to take care of ourselves along the way. Health is my non-negotiable… nutritious food, hydration, and sleep. And happiness lives in the little things, like my morning matcha or a walk with a good audiobook.
1:54 Meet Josh, and the Three Rules
[00:01:54] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: My first guest is my husband, Josh. We have been married nearly 20 years and are very different.
[00:02:14] Josh Heptig: It has been a joy. Dropping the girls at school, we had three rules. Rule one, always be safe. Rule two, always have fun. As long as they are being safe and having fun, the rest falls into place. And rule three, do not judge other people. Those are the tenets of how we live.
3:00 Why Golf Mimics Life
[00:03:00] Josh Heptig: My passion most of my life has been golf, and golf mimics life. You get into trouble, then you figure out how to get out. You can take the risky hero shot or play it calculated and safe. It improves your health, brings social connection, and gives you time to reflect. During the pandemic we joked that we invented social distancing golf.
5:30 Connection Is the Real Key
[00:05:30] Josh Heptig: The First Tee program teaches nine core values… responsibility, integrity, perseverance, community, self-motivation. It uses golf as a tool to help people become better community members, not just better golfers. Spending time with family and doing that together is what gets my motor running.
[00:06:00] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: I love that happiness is all about connecting… with loved ones, with nature, and with your inner self.
6:50 Focused Bursts and Five-Minute Breaks
[00:06:50] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Now the hustling part. It is easy to forget breaks, so I work in focused bursts. I sit and focus, then take a short recharge break, then return. Fifty years ago people took cigarette breaks. Now you can get up, stretch, or step outside. It is easy to build those five minutes into your day.
9:20 Give It Five Minutes
[00:09:20] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: My number one mantra is give it five minutes. A five minute walk or stretch can change your whole day, and if you stack five of them, that is already 25 minutes. It feels intimidating to work out for an hour, but five minutes? I am in. That small start snowballs into momentum.
11:30 The Supermarket Line Reset
[00:11:30] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: The other day I was in a long supermarket line, and I am not a great waiter. Instead of pulling out my phone, I added little stretches… a neck roll, shoulder rolls, down to my wrists. Before I knew it, I was unloading my cart, and I felt refreshed instead of bitter. That is the essence of the happy healthy hustle.
13:14 Breathe, and Put Your Mask on First
[00:13:14] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: On airplanes, the safety video always says put your own mask on first. The stronger and more grounded we feel, the better we model it for our children.
[00:15:04] Josh Heptig: When my shoulders creep up at the keyboard, I push back from the desk and just focus on my breathing. Five or ten slow breaths, and it is unbelievable how much more relaxed and focused you feel in 30 or 45 seconds.
