Life as a Mompreneur w/ Jessica Sitani

After Her C-Section, She Felt Numb. Cleaning One Closet Brought Her Back.

Jessica Sitani’s lifelong dream was to be a mom and a wife. Then she became one, and postpartum anxiety hit her out of nowhere.

Recovering from a C-section, she could not even get up to change her baby’s diaper. She felt numb, like she should be doing more.

One day she decluttered a single closet.

That small act cleared her head enough to dream again.

In this episode of the Happy Healthy Hustle Podcast, mompreneur coach Jessica Sitani shares how she found her way back to herself after a hard start to motherhood, why decluttering changed everything, and how she helps other moms simplify from the inside out.

Mindset, self-care, decluttering, time. One step at a time.

If you are juggling little ones and a business, this one is for you.

Key Takeaways

  1. A mompreneur raises children and a business at once. Both need care, and neither is ever perfect.
  2. Dreaming is a skill. Feeding your mind with what inspires you keeps the momentum alive.
  3. Reaching a goal does not end the challenges. There is always a next one.
  4. Postpartum anxiety is real and does not mean you are failing. Support makes the difference.
  5. Decluttering your space can declutter your mind. Start with one closet.
  6. You can only connect the dots looking backward. The hard parts shape who you become.

0:00 Meet Jessica: The Mompreneur Coach
[00:00:48] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: With her bachelor’s in psychology, Jessica Sitani took a leap of faith to start her own business in 2020. After coaching clients on mindset and habits, she became a first-time mama in 2022, which inspired her to pivot to a mompreneur coach. [00:01:49] Jessica Sitani: Being a mompreneur is the best of both worlds. I see your business as your baby, you pour so much time and energy into it. As a mompreneur coach, I help moms simplify their lives from the inside out, starting with mindset, self-care, decluttering, and time management.
6:38 Her Superpower: Being a Big Dreamer
[00:06:38] Jessica Sitani: I always go back to one thing, I am a big dreamer. Sometimes it is a double-edged sword, the dreams can feel far away, but more often than not it motivates me. I follow accounts that align with my dreams, things like going to different countries to physically serve, and one day being able to give not just money but my time. My dreams are one of my biggest whys that keep me going even when I do not feel like it.
9:53 Training the Mind to Dream
[00:09:53] Jessica Sitani: I fill my mind with a ton of podcasts, a lot of it inspirational, which keeps me on a high. When I am laying with my baby at night, I have made it a habit to visualize all the wonderful things I would love to have and do. It has gotten clearer the more I visualize, and using a vision board, even the accounts I follow on Instagram, lets me physically see it. Now a thought comes to me even while I am making lunch. It has become part of me.
13:41 Postpartum Anxiety and Feeling Numb
[00:13:41] Jessica Sitani: One of my biggest struggles was postpartum anxiety when I became a first-time mom. I had never struggled with anxiety before. I had a C-section, so I could not get up to change my baby’s diaper, and I felt a little numb and useless, like I should be doing more. Fortunately my parents live ten minutes away, and my husband had no parental leave, so my mom came every morning. Because of my mom, I was able to shower and eat.
16:59 The Closet That Cleared Her Head
[00:16:59] Jessica Sitani: In the shower, where you have your epiphanies, I started trying to dream again but could not feel it. Our closet was a total mess, adding clutter to my mind. So one day I decluttered our entire closet, just the closet, not the whole house. That simple act gave me so much mental clarity, it was night and day, and I was able to set goals and dream again. That led to taking care of myself, and to investing in a coach. That is how I pivoted to becoming a mompreneur coach.
21:56 Dreams Meet Reality
[00:21:56] Jessica Sitani: My dream since I was a little girl was to be a mom and a wife, and I reached it, and I still experienced challenges so much that I felt hopeless. Once you reach a goal, you will want to reach more, so it is okay to dream big, but understand that reaching goals does not mean you stop experiencing challenges. It is never picture perfect the way social media makes it seem. We are on a journey, and it is about finding gratitude in the midst of the craziness.
27:33 What the Hard Moments Shape
[00:27:33] Jessica Sitani: The challenges shape us. I would not be a mompreneur coach if I had not experienced what I did. We can only connect the dots looking backward, not forward. So things make sense as we move past them. Sometimes the challenge that felt like a stone in the road is what you laugh about later, and it is what made the moment memorable.
33:40 Her Rock: Husband, Family, and Coaches
[00:33:40] Jessica Sitani: My biggest supporters are my husband and family. From day one, when I wanted to invest in a program, my husband just said, do it, I believe in you. He takes the baby so I can rest, and my mom comes three or four hours a day so I can focus on my business. I am also grateful for every coach I have invested in, for course creation, podcast editing, social media, and sales. I would not be where I am without that support. [00:34:53] Jessica Sitani: You can find my podcast, The Simplified Life for Mompreneurs, and reach me on Instagram at jessica.mompreneur_coach. [00:35:22] Dr. Christiane Schroeter: Thank you so much for being here, Jessica.
